The Alliance of Celebrants Queensland (ACQ) is Australia’s largest membership based association of celebrants who officiate at weddings, baby namings, renewal of vows, commitment ceremonies, milestone ceremonies and funerals. Our members (300+) are professionals who are committed to on-going professional development and providing the highest level of service to couples and families at memorable times of their lives.
Celebrancy in Australia celebrated its 40th year in 2013 having first been introduced by the Hon Lionel Murphy QC whilst he was Attorney General. His vision was for all couples and families to have a ceremony of their choice and for Australian Civil Celebrants to provide the best ceremonies in the western world.
The ACQ was formed in 2008 for all celebrants to give support in their professional field to like-minded individuals and to have cultural, spiritual and family traditions recognised and upheld within ceremonies with substance and meaning.
The Committee, who are all volunteers, organise events, ongoing professional development, conferences and support to all its members. The ACQ are also a part of the Coalition of Celebrant Associations (CoCA) who are the recognised peak national body by the Attorney General’s Department who meet twice yearly in Canberra.
