About me
Agnes Water is where for the previous 18 years, I've called home.
I've been fortunate to live in some beautiful Australian communities throughout my life, and Agnes Water & Seventeen Seventy offer a tranquil lifestyle.
Throughout my working experiences I have enjoyed coordinating some fairly large celebrations for many causes, including often raising awareness & funds for the Cancer Council.
Through the decades I have found the joys in volunteering, whether at our local 1770 Captain Cook Festival, the early Dragon Boat years, or as a participant of the opening day at the international World Expo '88 in Brisbane City, as an EMCEE for a variety of events, EMCEE through some large fundraising auctions to raise funds for wonderful charities, including the Tweed Caldera's wonderful Festival of Speed on Tweed, Music Festivals in my youth on the Mornington Peninsula, and participated in some useful way, in numerous charitable community events.
I enjoy community volunteering as a JP. Qual within QLD.
Following the loss of my beautiful mum Evie, I find that weddings and similar life celebrations offer me a positive & respectful focus.
I choose to live a fairly private life, to offer myself balance, however I can be found at the Bundaberg or Wide Bay Burnett Pottery Group gatherings, learning and sharing techniques, frustrations, shared friendships and laughter.
AWSUM Ukelele in Agnes Water & Seventeen Seventy offers wonderful uplifting sharing of music, laughter and social benefits.
At home, I love gardening amidst natural environs. I have a small bush art studio/hut, where creative inspiration is a great distraction from the world beyond.
I adore children because of the absolute random joy they bring to the soul. Sadly I've not been blessed with my own family, however thankfully I have friends, family and neighbours with children, who keep my heart full.
I have alot of time to dedicate to you as your Authorised Celebrant, and even after all of these years, I find joy in each and every couples story and celebration.
I'm local to Agnes Water, however travel within the region and at times interstate when asked to do so.
Helping people forms a natural part of my values and therefore part of who I am; I often speak of the values you share as a couple and as family.
Some of my personal values include respecting equality, cultures of all peoples and lands, and especially older people and disabled peoples.
I adore and respect nature, love, love, love, birdsong, I often look at nature and find we can learn so much if we simply pause and listen and observe all that is unfolding before us.
Doggies too, very special LOVES.
I love meeting you as the couples I am to marry, and then getting to know your story of love and of family, hiccups and successful stories, including your family, your friends and your shared dreams. The story of you and your person.
I am a people person, interested in sharing my skills and working collaboratively to ensure that as best as is practically possible, happiness is carried within in everything I set out to do.
I am respectful of others, and I am mindful of situational awareness, what is actually going on around me, and this particularly I find, is a skill that many people simply do not own. It's vital on your special day.
As an authorised celebrant, I have lawful obligations, to ensure that you are lawfully married. It's simple, it's all about communication.
I use these skillsets in most parts of everyday, because it is important to be switched on to much that is going on, while holding the capacities to prioritise accordingly and calmly.
I've married friends and family members, I have officiated at funerals locally and interstate and I am humbled at my authorised celebrant role in which I embrace with respect and dignity.
I'll often suggest to couples to truly think about this moment, the official moment they are vowing to be respectful and loving and caring for each other, for the rest of their lives.
Fun somewhere in the mix of ceremony is fine, I too, have a great sense of fun within myself, so if we can get the mix right, everyone and everything should go beautifully.
I like to get things right for you the couple – and will often get you to share with me your understanding of my own explanations, so that I know we are on the same page.
I hope you have gained a little insight into who I am, and how I might match with yourselves in my role as your authorised celebrant, within your life celebrations. Sincerely, Penelope
