Marriage and Marriage Celebrants are regulated by the Marriage Act 1961. The Department also administers the Marriage Celebrants Program through the Marriage Celebrants Section of the Civil Justice Division.

Coalition of Celebrant Associations (CoCA)
The Coalition of Celebrant Associations is the national peak representative body for marriage celebrant organisations with the Attorney General’s Department who meet twice yearly in Canberra. The Alliance of Celebrants Queensland have a representative on the CoCA Committee.
Department of Immigration - Prospective Marriage Visa
This visa allows you to enter Australia and marry your intended spouse (fiancé(e)) within the visa’s nine (9) month validity period. Your fiance(e) must be one of the following:
- an Australian citizen
- an Australian permanent resident
- an eligible New Zealand citizen.
